Whether they will admit it or not, kids LOVE to contribute by doing Household Chores.
They need to contribute and they love to contribute to their family household.
They need to feel needed, especially in the place that is the most safe for them.
I have learned it takes superhuman Mom-Strength and dedication to cultivate the patience required to teach children How To Clean Their Room or how to empty the dishwasher, and then to hold them accountable.
Seriously, it’s the hardest part of being a mom some days, but I am more stubborn than they are because I know it will be WORTH IT!
Not because it gets easier, or because it lightens your load (let’s be real, it is way more work for you to teach them than to just do the work yourself).
It is worth it because we will have raised a human being that understands how to contribute to the family, household, community, school, and workplace.
They will be so much happier and more productive when they can perform a job well done because they were taught how and they understand that each person is important.
Until your child matures enough to thank you for teaching them how to contribute, here you go:
